From The Salem News, published on July 20, 2019:
“Salem – Amy Irene Michaud entered into rest July 19, 2019 at her home in Georgetown, Mass. She was the daughter of Mary G. and the late Donald J. Michaud of Salem Mass. She was the sister to Marylou and Donald Gauthier of Salem, Carolyn Michaud of Peabody, Susanne Michaud-Drucas of Beverly, Jeannette Michaud of Orlando, Fla., Donald and Kathy Michaud of Marblehead, Louise and Michael Magee of Salem, David Michaud of Salem, and many nieces and nephews.
Despite being born with severe disabilities, Amy endured and persevered. She had a very full and rewarding life surrounded by people who chose to give Amy life and love, and who worked hard to make Amy matter. Throughout her life, Amy presented with complex challenges and could only use her senses to derive enjoyment. Amy was mostly fun to be with. She was a great listener and passed no judgments. She loved music and everyone sang along while Amy hummed nursery rhymes, show tunes, Sesame St and holiday songs (Christmas being her favorite holiday) any time of year. Thus, the theme “Christmas in July” was born. Truly an angel in disguise, Amy loved the birds, the outdoors, the cool breeze across her face, and shopping of course! Though she was nonverbal, she made her needs known and inspired the medical community and all whom she met. In unspoken words, she inspired us to: be patient, have fun, and dare to do more, dare to find a way, and dare to be a better version of ourselves. She loved her Fidelity House family caregivers. She returned her unconditional love with laughter and inspiration.
God Bless you Amy, Fidelity house caregivers, Opportunity Works, and all her doctors and caring persons throughout her life. All of you are truly very special people.
